Bio
Rebecca Griesbach is an award-winning journalist and researcher with nearly a decade of experience covering education and other systemic challenges impacting communities across the South. She supports the Cowen Institute’s research and policy work and leads the Institute’s annual Data Fellowship for school data practitioners.
Prior to joining the Cowen in 2025, Griesbach was an education and data reporter for AL.com’s Education Lab, an initiative to bolster coverage of K-12 schools in her home state of Alabama. Her reporting has also appeared in Chalkbeat, The Hechinger Report, and the New York Times, among other publications.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a Master’s degree in Gender and Race Studies from The University of Alabama.
