Poll: New Orleans parents feel less bad about the school system, worse about charter schools

On October 31, we released the first brief on our annual poll of parents’ and guardians’ perceptions of public education in New Orleans. The brief was featured in a NOLA.com story. The article summarized the major findings of the poll as:

Fewer parents have bad feelings this year about New Orleans’ public school system — which is made up almost entirely of charter schools — yet more have negative feelings about charter schools, according to an annual poll of New Orleans families.

Additionally, it featured a quote from Policy Director Vincent Rossmeier:

“They still mainly view public education in the city as being more mediocre than very good or very bad,” said Vincent Rossmeier, the institute’s policy director, “and there is still a desire for things to be better.”
